9/11 Remembrance & Freedom Walk 05:45 PM

On Friday, September 10, join us for the Annual 9/11 Remembrance & Freedom Walk. Walk with the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums, Joint Services Color Guard and First Responders. The walk begins at Merchants Square and ends with a program at the Courthouse at 6:00 pm. Bring chairs or blankets. The 2010 Naval Air Station Oceana Air Show officially kicks off at 5:30 pm Friday evening, September 17th with the stunning Twilight Air Show. Don't miss dazzling sunset and nighttime aerial performances and blazing pyrotechnics. During the twilight portion of our show, you'll see performances by Matt Chapman and Dale "Snort" Snodgrass as well as a military tactical demonstration by the F/A-18 Hornet. When the sun sets, you'll be thrilled by heart-stopping night-time displays by Bill Leff, Otto the Helicopter, Bob Carlton's Jet Powered Sailplane, the Shockwave Jet Truck and the British Red Devils jump team. Admission and parking are free and gates open at 5:00 pm. When the show ends, make sure you stop by the NAS Oceana Officer's Club to enjoy a refreshing beverage in this legendary watering hole.
Saturday and Sunday, September 18th & 19th, 2010
Admission and parking are free at the NAS Oceana Air Show. Gates open to the public at 8:00 am and the flying starts at 10:00 am. The Blue Angels will start flying at 3:00 pm and finish at 4:00 pm. We would like to remind guests that you can expect heavy traffic in the early afternoon so please arrive early. There is plenty of fun and entertainment for the whole family throughout the day!
Saturday Night, September 18th, 2010
On Saturday night, September 18th, the Beach Blast begins at 6:30 p.m. with a free concert at the 31st Street Park, Virginia Beach Oceanfront (adjacent to the Hilton). When the sun sets, the Navy will join the party with a Super Hornet afterburner flyover, immediately followed by a team parachute jump onto the beach. Once the jumpers have been presented to the crowd, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will take the stage to introduce the 2010 Blue Angel team. Music and entertainment continues until the event's conclusion at 10 p.m. This is a free event and parking is available in the parking structure on the corner of 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue.
